Omo Oppa – Gong Yoo

When deciding who to pick as this edition’s Oppa I was having a difficult time, there are so many Oppa’s that I want to honor with their own post.  But then I was struck with a moment of inspiration, why not dedicate this week’s Omo Oppa to my Sunbae-nim Kfangurl! Her love for Gong Yoo is the stuff of legends!  Now I adore him as much as the next fangirl, however, I doubt anyone’s adoration could outdo Kfangurl in her Gong Yoo devotion!

Because I’m still so new to dramaland I’ve only seen Gong Yoo in Coffee Prince.  However, from the first moment he crossed my screen I fell head over heels in love.

Not only was he gorgeous, but he showed a wide variety of emotions and range with his delivery.  The way he expressed himself made me adore his character.  I’m sure it helped that the character was well written, but I doubt that anyone else could have pulled it off as convincingly.

It really isn’t the fangirl in me, but if someone other than Gong Yoo had played Choi Han Kyul then it wouldn’t have been as realistic.  There is something completely natural and real about Gong Yoo that very few actors have, its just something that can’t be faked.

After quickly devouring Coffee Prince I spent a little time (pronounced a lot of time) on the Gong Yoo tag on Tumblr.  There I fell even more in love with him.  The amazing folks of the fandom posted interviews, articles, pictures, and gifs galore!

Which only made me adore him even more.  I mean come on, his smile is just the best.

He’s delicious to look at, I could gaze at him for hours.  Though, he also seems to be a good guy with a humble personality.  All things that just made like him more and more.

Please join me in welcoming Gong Yoo to the ranks of Oppa!  This one’s for you Kfangurl!

    1. Coffee Prince is an absolutely stunning and amazing drama! I didn’t watch it until about halfway into my obsession, which I’m very sorry I waited so long. It will definitely be a drama that I watch again.

  2. Who am I to disagree with the other GY obsessives who commented before me?? I adore him and he’s still my #1 K-love ;). By the way, I’m watching CP for the 6th time, and it still makes me grin from ear to ear

    1. GY certainly does creative a whole bunch of fangirl feels 🙂 Watching CP for the 6th time? Holy cow, you’re amazing. I have yet to completely re-watch a series that I love. I’ve watched a few episodes of Goong recently just because I was feeling down, but I haven’t just sat down and re-watched a show. That is some serious love and dedication! Is it just as good this time?

      1. I don’t make it a habit to rewatch shows because of the ever growing must-watch list, but CP is the lone exception. It’s always as good as the first time! It hasn’t gotten stale, but it gets even better! I worry that the shine will wear off but it hasn’t yet. Yep, this is some serious love, but well deserved. The drama is magic, and Gong Yoo is a dream! I could watch him and Yoon Eun Hye watch paint dry all day.

      2. There are a few shows that I have on my list that I really do want to re-watch beginning to end, but since my to watch list is like over a hundred shows long I won’t be doing that for awhile :). That’s fantastic that you can keep watching it and it doesn’t grow old. It is one of the shows that is on my list to re-watch! I absolutely loved Gong Yoo and Yoon Eun Hye together, they were like magi.

  3. Aw! Thanks for the shout-out, even though I really don’t know if my GY love qualifies as stuff of legends..! *blush*

And definitely, GY deserves some love, so yay that you chose to feature him! And that final gif – THUD. So cute, and it never, ever gets old! XD

    1. Of course Sunbaenim! You’ve helped me so much in the past few months as I try and find my feet in the blogverse I thought that a whole bunch of GY pictures was the best way to repay you. 🙂

I loved that gif and I had to use it! Took me some time to figure out how to add a gif, but I finally did and I’m very happy with the results.

  4. I’m currently watching Gong Yoo in the older drama, Biscuit Teacher and Star Candy (aka Hello My teacher). No matter what I see him in, I just love him. His acting is amazing. He takes on the roll he plays. Thank you for writing this 🙂

    1. First I would like to apologize for how long it has taken me to respond. January is a very busy month for me at work and because of that I don’t have a lot of free time. So please accept my sincere apology for the late response!

Omo I want to watch Biscuit Teacher Star Candy so very-very badly. Not only does it have Gong Yoo but it is a Noona Romance. I can hardly contain my fangirl squeals! How are you liking it?

You’re very welcome! I’m glad that you enjoyed it! And also happy to meet another Gong Yoo fan!

      1. Ya, I usually watch dramas on drama fever and on Viki but it’s not on either of those. I’ve had to hunt around for it and the quality is not as good. I’ll see if I can find a good link to send you.

  5. If you want to see Gong Yoo being all manly man, watch The Suspect (movie). I just saw it and although somewhat dark it has heart. Also interesting to see N/S Korea relationship issues. Bet your husband would like it. I would *love to see Biscuit Teacher… but have not found it available. Any hints?
